A lesson in will power from Arnold Schwarzenegger

If you want a big dose of motivation, take 10 minute and watch the video.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has accomlished a lot. Five Mr. Universe titles, seven Mr. Olympia titles, world famous actor, entrepreneur, investor and American governor.

But when you look at a successful person you often see only the life of the person after they reached success. Most people miss the hard and often long road before that, and miss the valuable insight into what it takes to succeed.

This 10-minute film focuses on the years before Arnold got to taste success for the first time, and after you’ve seen the video you’ll likely realize how much more you have to give if you really want to reach your goals. If you want a big dose of motivation, take 10 minute and watch the video.

P.S. There’s a risk that you also feel lazy compared to Arnold. I sure did after watching the video. But the question is… how badly do you want success?

"We learn from history that we do not learn from history."
- Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770 - 1831)

My wage

I bargained with Life for a penny,
And Life would pay no more,
However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store;
For Life is a just employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.
I worked for a menial’s hire,
Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have paid.

Jessie Belle Rittenhouse (1869–1948)
“My Wage,” The Door of Dreams,
p. 25 (1918).

I found this poem in the book Think and Grow Rich (the best book on personal development) many years ago and it left a deep impression on me.

It’s entirely up to you want you get out of life.

Want a higher salary? Earn it by creating more value for others. Then you won’t even have to ask Life for a higher wage, you’ll get it anyway.

But it’s not just about money.

Want closer relationships with your friends and family? Get clear about what you want and work towards it. You’ll get it.

Want to be the best parent for your kids? Decide that that’s what you want and how you’re going to become it. Then do it.

What wage are you asking of life?
